CruxAI Summary
CruxAI now lets users create Specialists, custom versions tailored to a particular field, and hand off large multi-step jobs as agent tasks that run in their own workspace and save finished files to chat. It also adds connections to apps such as Notion, Linear, and Stripe, which start read-only, and introduces the faster CRX-5 Surface default model and new CRX-4.5 Diffusion image models. Specialists and connected apps are free, while CruxAI+ adds more agent time, scheduled tasks, and extras.

Specialists: your own expert CruxAI
A Specialist is a version of CruxAI that's an expert in one thing, set up exactly the way you work. Give it a name and an icon, tell it how to think and what to always do, and add a playbook and reference files it can lean on. Then start a chat with it whenever you need that expertise.
- A grant writer that knows your nonprofit's mission and always asks about the funder first.
- A study coach with your class notes and rubric built in.
- A brand voice editor that holds your style guide and never forgets it.
Specialists are available to everyone, free.
Specialists replace Apps. Your existing Apps stay visible and read-only, and you can export them anytime. Want to keep one going? Open it and choose Use as a starting point to turn it into a Specialist in seconds.
Agent tasks: hand off the big jobs
Some requests are too big for a quick reply: comparing ten products in depth, researching a topic across dozens of sources, or building a spreadsheet from scratch. Now CruxAI can take those on as an agent task. It works in its own private workspace, runs and checks its work as it goes, and saves the finished files right into your chat. You can even leave the page; the result will be waiting for you.
You decide how agent tasks start:
- Suggest: CruxAI offers to run one when it would help, and you confirm.
- Automatic: CruxAI starts one on its own when the job calls for it.
- Off: agents run only when you pick Agent task from the + menu.
Scheduled tasks (CruxAI+). Set up to five tasks that run on their own, every day, on weekdays or once a week. A Monday competitor scan or a morning news roundup lands in its own chat, ready when you are.
Agent builds in Site Builder. Turn on Agent build and CruxAI works through your whole project, tests the code and saves a new version when it's done.
Connected apps: CruxAI meets your tools
Connect the apps your work already lives in, and CruxAI can look things up in them while you chat. Ask about this week's Linear issues, pull details from a Notion page, or check a Stripe customer, all without switching tabs.
Available today: Notion, Linear, Jira & Confluence, Figma, Stripe, monday.com, Vercel and Hugging Face, alongside Google Drive and Gmail.
- You stay in control. Every app starts read-only. CruxAI only makes changes, like creating a page or updating an issue, in apps where you've turned on Allow changes.
- Bring any app (CruxAI+). If an app offers a connection for AI assistants, add it by its address and use it just like the built-in ones.
New models
CRX-5 Surface is our new everyday model. It's smarter than the Surface you know and still fast, so quick questions, drafts and everyday chats get better answers without the wait. It's the default for everyone.
CRX-4.5 Diffusion brings two new image models. Pick one under Image model in the model menu:
- CRX-4.5 Diffusion Fast: newer and quicker, great for everyday images. Available on every plan.
- CRX-4.5 Diffusion Pro (CruxAI+): our most detailed images and the most precise edits.
CRX-4 Diffusion stays available too.
Smarter in every chat
Notes that carry over. In Projects and on CRX-5 Mantle and Core, CruxAI keeps working notes: the decisions you've made, where a long task left off, the conventions you prefer. Pick a project back up next week and it remembers. See the notes for each project on its page, and your own under Settings › Memory & Privacy, where you can clear them anytime.
Conversations that keep going. Long chats no longer run out of room. CruxAI keeps a running summary of the earlier conversation, so you can keep working for hours without starting over.
Answers you can check. When CruxAI uses your Personal Context, like a form, a file in Crux Cloud or a calendar event, it now shows numbered source chips right in the answer. Tap one to open the exact item it came from.
A second opinion in Site Builder (CruxAI+). Builds on CRX-5 Surface and Mantle can now call on CRX-5 Core, our deep-reasoning model, for a second opinion on the tricky parts. You get the speed you picked, with an expert looking over its shoulder.

Agent tasks, connected apps and Specialists aren't available on accounts with parental controls.

- Make a Specialist: open Specialists in the sidebar and choose New Specialist.
- Run an agent task: tap + in the message box and pick Agent task, or ask for something big and let CruxAI suggest one.
- Choose how agents start: go to Settings › Agents.
- Connect your apps: go to Settings › Connectors and search for the ones you use.
